On today’s programme presenter Joe Bambrick has ‘Thought of the Day’, community news and he talks to Evelyn O’ Donnell who recently received an award from the Catholic Church and Community.

The Roscommon Community Challenge for 2022 will take place on Friday March 4th. There are big crowds of people out training every week in preparation for the event which is over 5K or 10k. Jacqui McCormack has been talking to Seamus Duke about the preparations for the big event and the latest news from the Special Olympics.

Educational courses in subjects like the English languageand IT skills will soon be available throughout the country for migrants and refugees after funding has been secured from the Government in recent weeks. Seamus Duke has been talking to John Lannon of Doras about the courses.

People over the age of 50 should be taking more exercise and there is a dedicated service there for people who want to get fit for the new year. called Fitline. James Flanagan is the Fitline co-ordinator for the West of Ireland and he spoke to Seamus Duke about the service on the Good Morning Roscommon programme.

Many people will attempt to give up smoking in January. On the Good Morning Roscommon programme Seamus Duke spoke to Greg Clarke who is a Stop Smoking advisor with the HSE West about the help that is there for people who want to quit the habit.

Roscommon town got a less than favorablereport in the latestIrish Business Against Litter survey and it has slipped into the ‘littered’ category. Chairperson of Roscommon Tidy Towns, and local councilorKathleen Shanagher spoke to Seamus Duke on the Good Morning Roscommon programme about the result and the value of taking part in the survey at all.
