  • The launch of Strokestown’s annual Agricultural Show takes place in the Percy French Hotel on Thursday, August 28th at 8pm. The show takes place on September 13th & 14th.

  • The next meeting of Glinsk Ladies Club will take place in Glencastle Lounge on Thursday, August 28th at 9pm.
  • The next meeting of the Manchester United Supporters Club takes place in the Patrick’s Well, Boyle on Thursday, August 28th at 9.30pm.
  • Keadue CCE will hold a traditional music session in Roddy’s Bar on Friday, August 29th commencing at 9pm. All welcome.
  • An important meeting of Glenamaddy GAA will take place in the GAA meeting room on Friday, August 29th at 9.30pm. All managers, players and members are asked to attend.
  • A traditional music session will be held in Hamrock’s Bar, Athleague on Friday, August 29th commencing at 10pm. All musicians, singers and story tellers are welcome to join. Raffle on the night.
  • Tulsk Camogie Club is holding a Cash for Clobber fundraiser on Saturday, August 30th. Clothes may be left at Tulsk pitch between 11am and 1pm.
  • South Roscommon Cycling Club in conjunction with Clann na nGael will be hosting a charity cycle in aid of the Join Our Boys Trust on Saturday, August 30th. Registration begins at Johnstown Clubhouse at 8am. For more information call Joe on 086 8443 408.
  • A family day out in aid of Roscommon-Mayo Hospice will take place in Tulsk on Saturday, August 30th from 12-4pm as part of the Rathcroghan Medieval Summer Festival. All donations on the day support local pallative care services.
  • Elphin’s 37th agricultural show takes place at Elphin Mart Premises on Saturday, August 30th. For more information go to
  • The next meeting of the Shepherd’s Crook Golf Society will take place at Carrick-on-Shannon Golf Club. Draw at 12.30pm sharp.
  • A Barn Dance in aid of Deirde McDermott’s trek to Everest and the Join Our Boys trust takes place in The Fiddlers’s Elbow, Ballaghaderreen on Saturday, August 30th at 9.30pm. Admission optional.
  • The Irish Red Cross Ballaghaderreen cycle fundraiser takes place on Sunday, August 31st. Registration takes place at the Fiddler’s Elbow at 9am with the cycle starting at 10am. Entry fee €20. Refreshments afterwards.
  • A clothes collection will take place beside Strokestown Church on Thursday, September 4th before 12 noon.
  • The AGM of the Mid-Roscommon Co-Op Society will take place in Kilbride Community Building at 8pm sharp on Friday, September 5th.
  • The 2nd annual Boyle Celtic to Croagh Patrick Challenge takes place on Saturday, September 6th. For more information, contact Eddie Conroy at The Railway Bar. Sponsorship cards available.

  • The annual Frenchpark 10k/5k run/walk or cycle takes place starting at Frenchpark School on Sunday, September 7th at 3pm. All proceeds in aid of Action Breast Cancer & Prostate Cancer. Registration €10 per adults. Refreshments at the school afterwards.
