Roscommon Among Cleanest Towns in Ireland

Roscommon has placed joint 3rd in a list of the cleanest towns in the country according to IBAL. A new survey on litter has found that 80% of Irish towns and cities are as clean, or cleaner, than their European counterparts. Roscommon joins the towns of Tullamore and Leixlip as well as the environs of Dublin Airport rounding out the top four.

Man Stabbed in Roscommon Town

A man has been seriously injured after a stabbing incident in Castle Street car park in Roscommon Town. The 20-year-old was taken to Portiuncula Hospital, Ballinasloe following the incident on Wednesday night at approximately 11pm. Today’s Roscommon Races meeting has been postponed until Monday, August 28th. According to the Roscommon Races Facebook page: “Following a further 4mm of rain since 9am and with more rain forecast today’s Meeting has been abandoned as part of the track is unfit to race.” Roscommon Races has since updated with new information on the rescheduled meeting.
